OS: Windows Xp Media Centre Edition
|
Ok, so, my laptop is really stuffed at the moment. I dont know whats wrong with it, but it screwed up a couple months ago, i took it to the local computer centre and they fixed it all for me. They reinstalled windows xp i think, or did system recovery (im not good with computers haha) and now the problems just come back worse than ever.
The computer just wont run, i turn it on and it goes to the 'we apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully' screen, with all the startup options. All of these result in the computer crashing again, so its just going in a loop. The computer centre gave me a 'windows XP professional baseline recovery dvd' disk, (acronis, but i can only use the recovery part of it) but when i use it it doesnt work. it says to choose an archive to recover, but i want to recover the whole hard disk and neither are available. Infact, no matter what file i press the 'next' button doesnt highlight, therefore i cant recover anything? Theres no way i can afford to buy another laptop! and i really dont want to go back to that computer centre, can anyone help me? sincerely, helen. |

Re: im going to kill my laptop! wait, its already dead.
Reseting a BIOS on a laptop is no walk in the park.
I'd give it another shot with restoring it. Also, does this laptop have a Certificate of Authenticity on the bottom? If it does you can borrow a corresponding Windows CD and reinstall a CLEAN copy of the OS and use the code on the machine.
