Acer Laptops
Are Acer laptops reliable and do they run for years without issues? I'm looking for laptop with bluetooth capabilities and a built-in webcam and found an acer with those options built-in at a good price. I was just curious about the brand.

Re: Acer Laptops
I've had mine since early 2005 and it's been through absolute HELL with me. I've had to replace the HDD but that was it. The screen is still shrap and bright, the DVD-R/RW still burns perfectly, and all the other devices in it are in 100% working order.
Acer Aspire 1522LMi AMD Athlon64 3000+ 1.8Ghz 512MB DDR RAM (I doubled mine to 1GB) 80GB HDD (I went to a 100GB) 10/100/1000 LAN 56k v.92 fax-modem DVD-R/RW drive VIA K8N800 Integrated S3 UniChrome II Pro video -128-bit 2D/3D engine -2 pixel pipelines -Hardware MPEG-2 decoding -DirectX 7 support -250Mhz 3D engine

Re: Acer Laptops
We've had good luck with the ones we've sold. If our customers are having lots of problems, they haven't told us.

Re: Acer Laptops
I've sent in my Aspire 5000 in 2 times. It's going in one more time. It's great for the price, but you're going to have to upgrade certain things if you want more out of your Acer Experience. Their warranty is kick *** though.

Re: Acer Laptops
I have had mine for 3 years without issues. I upgraded the RAM twice and replaced the hard disk. The wireless is also upgradable as well as the CPU.
It also has all solid capaciors and I have overclocked the CPU,

Re: Acer Laptops
Yeah I learned that with an acer I purchased last week. I assumed it had bluetooth when I saw the switch, but turns out it didn't. False advertising. I also have a Toshiba A135 S4407 that I thought had a mic because the casing showed it did but turns out it didn't.

Re: Acer Laptops
Mine can accept Blue Tooth via mini-PCI. Right now that slot is occupied by an 802.11b/g wireless card. Doesn't bother me, though, seeing as the only Blue Tooth devices I have are my Wii controllers.
