Exclamation Sony Vaio PCG-TR5AP Display Problems

Hello, I bought a Sony Vaio PCG-TR5AP a while ago, and it was running incredibly slow, so I had my son re-install Windows XP Home edition on it, and when he did that, the screen is shortened about 1 inch on each side(left and right) but not the top.. We've tried installing the drivers from Sony and other sites, installed Service Pack 2, but nothing will make the screen go back to it's original 10"(I think) widescreen size. Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated!

Also, the side buttons, Motion Eye camera, volume up/down, and screen resolution changer, don't work even though I installed the drivers from Sony..Is there some drivers I can't find or another way to get those working again?

Again, any help would be appreciated!!

Re: Sony Vaio PCG-TR5AP Display Problems

Hi, an welcome to TSF!

From what I have found, your laptop uses the Intel 855GM chipset which has integrated graphics. Your driver can be found here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ional&lang=eng

Note that you should install the driver in safe mode. To do this, rapidly tap the F8 button right before the Windows XP logo normally appears. You may not get it the first time, but if you don't, reboot and try again. Also, disable any antivirus temporarily during the installation. When you are done, reboot and Windows will automatically boot up normally.

I will look into the other buttons you mentioned.

Re: Sony Vaio PCG-TR5AP Display Problems

You might want to browse the drivers for your model. I found a couple that may fix the issue, but I can't link to them because of the way Sony set up their site specifically with their use of javascript.

Go to Drivers/Downloads from this page and enter your model number:
