acer aspire 9300 slow to boot up

i recently got this laptop and ever since i did it has been very slow to boot up after turning it on. the ram is only 512MB and it is running vista. i have shutdown some start up programs but it still lags. any ideas?

Almost any computer with 512 MB of RAM running Vista will be slow to boot up. You can upgrade your RAM or reinstall XP. I would personally do both. The only problem you might encounter is Acer not providing XP drivers for that model.

If you want to keep Vista, I would start by disabling as many services as possible that you don't need. Also, disable as many of the startup programs as possible.

i have disabled some, but im not sure which one i could totally disable. which ones would you recommend shutting down? if you need i can send you the ones that are running. i can run a hijack this scan and email it if thats ok with you.

A HiJack this log really won't help unless you have malware issues. Go into the service manager and post which ones are running.
