Laptop won't start on new battery

I have a Toshiba satellite A75 for about 3 years. The battery was a bit weak and giving backup only about 30-40 minutes. One day suddenly the battery seemed to have dies, the laptop just didn't start on battery, though the charge meter showed battery as 100%.
Thinking this to be a battery problem I brought a new one, the battery charged from 71% to 100% but as sson as I removed the AC adapter to see the battery working, the laptop shuts down (I mean just goes off, not the windows shut down). It doesn;t work on battery at all.
What is the problem??

Re: Laptop won't start on new battery

Can someone please suggest some solution. I also noticed that when power off the mains after I shut down the computer, the orange light in of the battery flashes 3 times.

Re: Laptop won't start on new battery

It is possible you recieved a faulty battery pack.
I would first check your BIOS settings under power management and see what this is set to. I would set it to the default setting (battery Max Life). I would also check the battery contact pins on the laptop to see if any are damaged.
Then when the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery is installed does the battery light glow from Amber (charging) to Green (Fully charged) after about 30 minutes? This will give me an indication that the AC adapter and the circuitry inside the laptop is performing correctly. Chances are if you do see these lights working as stated above and you still can not run off the battery the battery pack is defective even though it says it was fully charged. I have purchased various battery packs (new) and found them to be defective.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Re: Laptop won't start on new battery

thanks for the reply. the battery light goes from amber to green and then the meter shows 100%. when i remov the ac power cord the laptop just shuts. but when the power is switched off from the mains, it stays on for 3-4 seconds and then goes off. I also noticed yesterday that suddenly the computer went to battery while in operation (green light to amber). but if i pull out the power cors, it just goes off. this happened a second time too and i then shutdown, removed the power cord and put it back in and it was back on power. light became green after a while of charging. i will check the bios. the battery connections seem ok. any other suggestions.

Re: Laptop won't start on new battery

I would suggest another battery. It seems like your AC adapter and battery connections are good, but the battery is not holding the charge.
Thanks,
Bill

Laptop wont run off battery, PLEASE HELP

HELP PLEASE. Hello, can anyone please help on this. I disassembled the laptop yesterday and all inside seems good. Also got the DC jack re-soldered. But problem remains.
The laptop just wont run on battery, a new one. It is a 3rd party battery. I was having this problem with my original battery so I got a new one. The original battery also had become very weak and was holding charge only for 30-40 minutes max
When I remove the power cord, it just immediately shuts down.
When I switch off the power, it shuts after few seconds, not immediately.
Sometimes while working, the AC power indicator suddenly goes off and the laptop goes on battery and works till battery drains. Just happens by itself. To get it back to AC I have to remove the power cord and plug it in. Of course, as soon as I remove the cord, the laptop shuts.
Any suggestions before I go for a new battery again.

Re: Laptop won't start on new battery

Sorry for the very late reply. same thing happens with both old and new batteries. now even the battery indicator in front is not working. when i power on the claptop, it becomes amber for a few seconds and then turns off. is the problem with battery. I got the new battery replaced with another one but the problem continues. how do i know if the fault is with the battery or the laptop????
