please help no sound on my laptop

i have no sound on my dell inspiron 9300
no sound in my windows media player

If you are running XP go to the sound properties and see if it is muted.

Hello,

Check device manager to make sure that your audio driver is properly installed. If you need help doing that let us know.

Is the sound working in other programs? What are you trying to play in WMP?

In the device manager under sound, can you tell me what it listed? Also, can you give me the model # or serial # to this laptop?

Try hitting >Fn>END. this maybe the switch to disable the internal speakers
There are other fn key to control the speakers also. Here is a link for the owners manual for this laptop:

I have this same problem. Everything looks good in device manager. I uninstalled an reinstalled the drivers for the audio device and yet still... no sound. The speakers are fine. Not blown out. I have no idea whats doing this.
