win98 reinstall

I have a panasonic toughbook CF27.

No antivirus is on it i reinstall .

ok call me cheap.

This time it wont let me reinstall.

I put in the setup floppy and installation CD.

follow the setup instructions that came with the machine.

Reads as follows(When the setup utility screen appears press F9 )

In my setup screen it ask for a password I didn't put there

at least i don't think i did.

How do I get around this?

What do you mean? What are you trying to do? If you want to reinstall Windows98 you have to format the partition where you want it installed first.

It only beeps when I hit F9

You don't need a password to install Windows - but you need a product license number (5x5 numbers/letters).

I trry to format hard drive but it wont let me.

I keep getting setup screen asking for password in dos

if the h/drive has had a password put on it and you have forgotten or don't have it
the h/drive usually has to be replaced

You may have misunderstood what dai meant when it asks for a password.
If you did not create one when you installed the system leave the password box empty and just hit your enter key and it should proceed to the next screen.
