Help!! It all started when the harddrive was replaced under warranty...
I had my harddrive on my Hewlett-Packard zd7000 replaced through the warranty about two years after I got it.
Since then, the computer will randomly flash a pixelated blue screen of death for a fraction of a second, and then shut down and restart (note: the shut down is instantaneous, as if the power was cut to the computer). If I don't get this effect, then the compuer simply freezes. I have Windows XP SP1 running on this computer, and have also tried several versions of Linux. Under Linux, there is no flashing blue-screen-of-death shutdown, but the computer still freezes (though less frequently). I think it might be significant to note that this is a laptop that tends to overheat due to a deficiency of cooling devices (worst design flaw ever, and corrected in the zd8000 line). |

Re: Help!! It all started when the harddrive was replaced under warranty...
I've tried cooling pads but they're all too small for my computer (17" widescreen). The fan assembly was replaced when the harddrive was (sorry forgot to mention that earlier), so I don't think that that is the problem because the problem started when the fans were all new and clean. But I will try cleaning them out now to see if it helps. Thanks for your help!
