Cry STOP: c000021a error

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I'm ready to start crying, I'm so frustrated.

I have a Toshiba laptop computer, and it's been working fine. Last night, I was playing a game on it from BigFishGames.com, and it was still fine. Then I turned off the game, but my laptop was still going (has screensaver). Anyway, I fell asleep not too long after, and woke up at 3 a.m. to a blue screen that read:

STOP: c000021a error
Unknown Hard error

I have never seen this before and I have no idea why it happened while I was asleep!

So I tried to reboot, and it happened again. Then I rebooted again, and it did a DSKCHK and after scanning and supposedly deleting and restoring stuff, it went back to the dreaded blue screen with the same error message.

I rebooted again, and pressed F8, then went to Last Configuration that worked, and after a LONG time, it went to Windows, but none of the normal Windows Startup items would work, and the hourglass kept going for a good 15 minutes. Finally I did another reboot, then F8, then Last Known Configuration, then it did the CHKDSK and after it said scan is complete, it went BACK to the STOP: c000021a error!!

I'm so frustrated. I worked on this for 2 hours in the middle of the night and had no luck.

I'm now at work on my work computer and was googling for answers, but none seem to help.

If anyone can please help me with this, I would REALLY appreciate it.

Also, I have no Restore Discs, as the laptop came with XP (home edition) pre-installed. I've owned the computer for nearly 3 years now, and I bought it from Best Buy with their extended warranty, but that's out in less than 2 months. I also hear nightmare stories about them. So if anyone can help with this (please give me step by step instructions!!), I'd be grateful.

I also saw another thread on this in this forum but I'm not sure I understand how to make it work: cant start windows - chkdsk loop

Thank you SO much!!

Holly

P.S. And, of course, I have no backup of data on my laptop. HELP!!!

I don't know what GoBack is, actually. Can you explain?

Re: STOP: c000021a error

No, I don't have GoBack installed, but there is the System Restore on XP. But how can I get to it if I can't even get Windows to log on?

Re: STOP: c000021a error

That's the one thing I haven't tried yet: safe mode.

I'll go home and do it. What am I supposed to do once I get in? I also thought about popping over to a store and buying an external hard drive so in case I get in for a brief period of time, I can transfer all my stuff over.

So, what do I do if I manage to get into safe mode?

Re: STOP: c000021a error

I tried to get into my laptop through Safe Mode and all this stuff scrolls on black screen (looks like path addresses), and then nothing happens.

I got into my normal windows for 20 minutes yesterday just by trying to reboot and get in the usual way. It finally got in, said a "serious hard disk error" was fixed, and then it was working REALLY slowly. I quickly tried to get my most important stuff off my computer, but the minute I clicked to get into my files, the computer went to blue screen--AGAIN--and it said that it had to shut down windows to save my computer from damage.

Then it gave the error message: Kernel_inpage_error, and followed it with a bunch of error codes. I would at least like to do a system restore, or something..but how can I do anything when it won't let me in? I really want to get my data off--I just need 20 minutes to do it!

When I try to log on to Windows, it keeps doing something called DKSCHK and it scans stuff, tells me that certain things are "unreadable", and then it just sits there. Then goes to the Windows Logon page, then it loops again to DSKCHK.
