Packard Bell Problems
Ok my dad has this laptop Easynote E1245..
Its been giving us some grief these past few weeks. It runs Windows XP Home edition Sp2. All drivers are up-to-date. The problem is that it takes 5mins to get to the welcome screen and then another 2mins to get to the desktop. After that it will take another 5mins to load completely before your able to select anything.. The process "Svchost" is always at 100% Cpu and the HDD is constantly going mad.. Also there are 5-10 Svchost processes running at one time. After i close them all, explorer as a little spaz then its back to normal.. (Sort of, Internet explorer or any program takes a few minutes to load as well) The laptop has been recently re-formatted but it still goes incredibly slow.. The only programs that run at startup are, Panda Virus and MSN Messenger. I have stopped all other processes from running by using the msconfig. I have defragged the HDD using O&O Defrag, straight after the installation of XP .. This has never happened before, although the laptop is about 3 years old. But my dad only needs it for his internet banking, Web surfing, and watching some videos off the network. It only on for like 3 hours every other day. Any ideas

Re: Packard Bell Problems
Hi, Have you scanned for issus and virus and malware, spyware?
If not use CCleaner for issus and for the rest do the Panda online scanner. Have you run the Windows Vista Defrag? Hope this works. Jay. BTW your signature - I have helped alot lol.

Re: Packard Bell Problems
My dads laptop runs XP, its no where near as good to run Vista. His laptop has Tuneup Utilities 2007, It carnt find many errors. It only has 5 programs installed on the system, Panda Antivirus and Firewall, Tuneup Utilities 2007, O&O Defrag, MSN Messenger and Microsoft Office Teacher & Student Edition.
Ive tried CCleaner on my system and it deletes uninstallation files for programs. So i have problems when i try to uninstall programs

Re: Packard Bell Problems
Okay. The proccessor might be wearing out, you could try adding more or updating the RAM.
How old is the Laptop? |

Re: Packard Bell Problems
Yea that would be the CPU going then. You can replace the CPU but you will have to see what processors are compatable with the motherboard.
