Re: You're gonna love this: I've LOST my CD/DVD!

The The summary info was useful because it told me that the CD drive was not being detected by Windows. The debug info was not necessary though.

Your account changing from the administrator might be the result of a virus or other malware. You might want to ask about that in the security forum.

Re: You're gonna love this: I've LOST my CD/DVD!

Uh ... Matt? When I go to User Accounts (or whatever it's called) it lists me as Administrator. This stupid thing makes me crazier every dang day! It's just gone from bad to worse ... Seriously, it gets me to cryin'. I'm definitely hating this ignorant laptop!!

Hi Sami~,
In view of what Matt had said and the fact that you have so many problems, I suggest you get our analysts to check for malware. Follow the instructions in this link carefully. If, for any reason, you can't carry out a particular step, carry on to the next, but make a note of it in your report.
Best wishes,
John.

Re: You're gonna love this: I've LOST my CD/DVD!

Sami,
I had a similar problem with an old laptop of mine. The problem was that my cd/dvd drive just came lose and was not fully inserted into it's slot. The fix, I just removed the plastic cover for the cd/dvd tray ( it sanps off) and wiggled it alittle till it slid back in. My laptop recognised my drive almost instantly. This might not be that case with yours, but it's worth a try considering all you have done thus far. Hope this helps, if not than good luck :D
