Want simple laptop

I want to buy a simple laptop for writing (I'm a wanna-be writer), for accessing the internet for research, email, etc.
I don't need it for music down-loading, photos, etc.

I'd like quality.....ease of use....large, private monitor.

What models do you suggest?

Thanks, Cathy

Hello Cathy,

If you are going to be on-the-go a lot, shoot for the Compaq Presario V6000

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh..._components.do

The screen is a nice 15.4 inch

If you are not always on-the-go,

Shoot for any one of the Lenovo Notebooks (there are many that may suit you)

Hope this helped, please post any further questions here about the computers here!

Also welcome to the forums!

Re: Want simple laptop

Hello kwingy,
I'm really happy with my acer aspire 5100-3357, cost me $654 out the door.
it should be viable for my purposes for 10-15 years.
at first i wasn't intrested in photos or music. but that changed when i found out what this thing will do. funny how that happens.
also the mods have a thread ( Sticky: staff picks ( 1 2 3 4)
where they share thier expierence based opinions.
good luck
NN

Thank you, Facade & newnewbie.

I've printed your ideas and now I have a starting place. You've been a big help.

Re: Want simple laptop

Just a few brands that i believe offer great quality and value:
> Acer - Top quality
> HP - Very well built, full of features but can be pricey.
> Sony - Some models are well made, packed with some good software too.
> Fujitsu - They have some well manufactured ultra-portable notebooks.

I wouldn't really suggest a Dell they've given me problems in the past.
