Help: Can't keep my laptop monitor turned off
Hi all,
I'm using a Sony VGN-AR270 running WinXP Home and am having trouble keeping my monitor off. I have changed the settings in Power Options so that my monitor shuts off after 1 minute both when it is plugged in and running on batteries. After 1 minute, the monitor shuts off, but after a minute of being turned off, it automatically comes back on. I have found that if my screensaver is set to come on after 1 minute, then the monitor will flip between being turned off and displaying the screensaver at 1 minute intervals. I have changed the screensaver to come on after longer periods and this does not resolve the issue of the monitor coming back on after a minute of being shut off. Hopefully there is a resolution to this problem, because I would like to conserve energy without hassling with the computer going into standby or hibernation in order to get the monitor to shut off when not in use. All help is appreciated. |

Re: Help: Can't keep my laptop monitor turned off
Hi, the monitor comes back on because something woke it. Usually this will be a program or service still running, so check your Task Manager to see what's busy and what's not.
Your bios will also have power settings which govern what can and cannot wake your pc from stand-by or sleep, so the prob may be there. Best of luck. |
