Laptop screen dead
my laptop (hp 6129)screen is suddenly dead - it was on standby and now it won't display anything at all, but HD is working and am getting windows starting/log in sound, the disk drives and fans are working as well but there is absolutely nothing on the screen, not even faint display. while starting, there are odd beeps from the machine but then laptop boots smoothly. just a week ago I had got the harddisk replaced and all cards checked 'coz the laptop refused to boot and gave me Driver_IRQL_Not_less_or_equal blue screen error. I got it fixed frm HP ppl and it worked fine for a week before the display went dead. Pls help!!

Re: Laptop screen dead
have a close look at the screen and see if you can see anything dimly in the background
try connecting a monitor to it and see if the screen is ok on the monitor

Re: Laptop screen dead
sadly I can see nothing at all, not even faint light. Also the BIOS screen or HP Logo are also not visible..Have tried working it with other display and it works fine. It takes a long time for HP ppl to repair laptops as I have experienced recently. Is there a way to fix it on my own? Am no hardware wizard, but can do little work. Also if I have to replace the monitor, does anyone have an idea how much HP LCD screen will cost?

Re: Laptop screen dead
Thanks for help, Iappreciate it..now there is further development - yesterday after rebooting many times, the display started again, but it gave me a message that the screen resolution is set at very low and asked if I need to reset it. I kept it the way it was and went on working.Today again the monitor is refusing to dislay anything and multiple restarts are not helping. I have tried the flashlight experiment suggested on other forums, but I can see absolutely nothing. Since the monitor worked fine after blanking out once, I suppose the screen isn't dead and it's a loose connection or driver..now what do I do next?
