Possibly yes, I don't know any figures but I have seen it said that if your running from the mains it is better to remove the battery.
What kind of battery is it ? if it's Ni-Cad then it most definitely comes under a special regime for maximising it's life, whereas NiMH or Li-ion are not effected the same way, but there are still ways to treat them to maximise their life span. |

Re: battery life reduced?
Generally the main reason for removing the battery is to reduce the heat from it. The battery life may be reduced slightly, but not to any significant extent.
The problem with NiCd batteries that 8210GUY explained is the memory effect, meaning that if the battery isn't discharged completely before being charged or left in the charger too long while not charging, it will loose battery life. Fortunately, NiCd laptop batteries aren't very common anymore.

Re: battery life reduced?
I asked for help regarding my Toshiba Laptop Battery, and no one responded. I would still appreciate any help----. I usually leave the computer attached to the recharger when not in use. When I use the computer on battery power, within about 10 minutes, at most, I get an "on-screen" message telling me that my battery power is now down to 5% and that I should save all work and shut down immediately! Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry must of slipped by, we try to catch them all but we are human, I've replied in your other thread, so if you could keep to that one then each topic stays with it's own author, Thanks.
But as the topic is on a par to save repeating it all go to this link to see my suggestions for maximising battery life, but again to avoid crossover stay in your own thread to stop any confusion as there may be subtle differences between each case. >>>Linkage to Battery Maintenance Advice<<< |
