HP Pavilion New Hard Drive Install Problem

Hello - my dad just purchased a new hard drive for his HP Pavilion ze5170.

When using the HP standard recovery cds, the installation freezes at the screen "PMakPart Version 3.14"

Can anyone help?

i think you need to get a file from hp to load on first

Often times the recovery CDs point to files on the recovery partition. I would suggest reinstalling the old hard drive if it is still functional and then cloning that to the new hard drive with an external 2.5" enclosure.
