Battery Refiling?

The original battery in the lappy I found and just put right (finally) only with the help of TSF everyone.....new one waaaaay expensive.

There are couple of sites U send battery 2 and they refil it....I assume put new cells in. Savings around $40. Is this viable? Is this a good thing? They say they do not charge U if they can't refill it.

Thank U,
Jill

Re: Battery Refiling?

Before you do anything like that, have you tried conditioning it? Fully charge it (let it charge overnight even if they appear to have a full charge) then use the laptop until it shuts down. Recharge, it. You may need to do it a few times, but no more than 4 times.

After you tried that, TBH, I'm not sure if it would really be worth it, as you can't tell how long it will last. But I don't know, it may work fine.

Re: Battery Refiling?

Well, Joseph....I think it is totally dead. Maybe beyond holding a charge. I am positive this is original battery. I have been wsorkikng on this thing forever....it's had every chance 2 charge....but it seems it doesn't. So I can not run lappy on battery.

It seems this was made in 02 or 03.---wasn't care4 for at all well....I know even a good battery like this can only be charged but so many times. Like artound 300.

Course the batt in the Alienware I found.....perfect....but I keep it out when not using it mobile.

Maybe I am being cheap.; so far I've spent only $100 on it...I plan to give this to someone....U shouldn't give gifts where recipient needs 2 spend money.

Thanks, Joe....

Re: Battery Refiling?

I checked on this. At 1st it looked like they only give a 30 day warranty. Digging deeper I found they have a one year warranty on the refilled battery. They also promise better capacity than a new one.

Sounds like this may be worth a shot. It would be much better than trying a used one. And this laptop has a very pricey battery. So new is not an option.

Well, T! I must say, this....is the pithiest, most accurate, all elements considered.....response to a post I have seen.

And soooooo...it was uber helpful! U.....have made my decision 4 me......saved me more confusion (I get little tired of that sometimes, OK?).....and I thank U very much.....esp 4 being so focused and meticulous......forget, the refill place is out of new ones anyhow....and these R being offered for close 2 TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS online elsewhere.

Do they think we R MADE OF MONEY??????????? (Yep.)

Even the batt 4 my Alien is way less than this....a new one! Will B when mine dies.

Thank U.

Re: Battery Refiling?

Addendum: Want 2 add....I C they address things fully.....all the possible issues and those R many and complex. but they do claim 92% suceess rate.....and I think they know wut they R doing.

Also very strange.....this battery, on it's underside.....which is flush with the bottom of the lappy....has a rectangular thingy saying "press"..UNDER THAT are percentages ranging from 25 > 100, each with a little circle to its left....U know U R supposed 2 C some light emenating or sumthin from a given little circle.

I am sure with a healthy battery....it's like those alkalines U can buy where U press points and can C the health/remaining charge of the batt......I have nevah seen anything like this.....and while when I boot the bat charge lite is orange....and it turns 2 blue....this does not reflect reality.

OK I am going to do this.....plus, they have completely thought out reasonable return policy.
Boy, this is some strange laptop. I already have (uploaded in main thread) a pic of the underside....and I just circled the strange batt meter rectangle and will upload.....cause it is kinda VISIBLE.

Re: Battery Refiling?

They talked about the "charge indicators" on the battery refill site. Here is what they said.

What is SMBus(System Management Bus) Digital Circuit?
Li-Ion laptop batteries are not simple devices. All Li-Ion laptop batteries have cell protection circuits and most of them have charge indicators. We call it a "Smart Battery." These are laptop batteries with state-of-charge-indicators.

System Management Bus (SMBus) circuits consist of state-of-charge indication and cell protection. This circuit board communicates with the laptop and provides the remaining capacity, output voltage, and temperature information.

Some Ni-Mh laptop batteries are "Smart Batteries".

Re: Battery Refiling?

Yes! just reading everything on their site a grad level lappy batt thingy.....fascinating. Also now get the lions harder 2 deal with.

Not sure right now, given some other issues, if the latest garbage find is worth investing more money in...but this will come to me soon.
Just botted my Alienware 2 update it.....and i had forgotten how stunning it is....I will never find anythng computer-related in the garbage even close to this amazing......and all it needed was a new KB and a clean install.

But that site is excellent 2 know about....U can tell they R total professionals. I also luved the feedback comments and accounts of customers discovering how to maximize their refilled batts.....just that, major indicator of high end operation. Fully informative always is.

That site was a good find. I did not know you could refill laptop batteries before you posted this.

That is what I love about working on computers. Always learning new stuff.

Totally true!!! But also true, I think, of everything in life! Starting with about ourselves and other beings & life.....and how exciting is this?????? Thrilling, even.

Am sure this is naive....but I wish they could find some new technology to make lappy batts for less money. Course, maybe they do not want to??????

Re: Battery Refiling?

Battery tech seems to be running behind everything else. There are lots of people working in this problem. Even more so now that they want to run cars off of batteries.

I heah U. Ironically (not) there were two offered same day. End times an hour apart. This one and one the lady from whom I got the for parts twin from. Wait, I wil get link...I posted details:

HDD Hot

This vendor has 100% feedback....I have had really good luck on ebay.....and when something was not as it should have been, did not stop until I put it right....once, also for 3 others who bid on and won same duvet set I did....totally misrepresented and total crap..
I took the time to email them and aprise them of wut I was doing , results of my research....evne fabric testing re is this silk or is this not? and why. Everyne one of them had felt burned and helpless....and every one of them got their money back eventually.

I am always a member of the collective....inside. That is a fact. Anyone hwo burns anyone....burns Jilly.
I will report, T.....4 seconds after this arrives. Maybe more like 14
, raptor
A guy who is also an ebay dealer....puters....who was the other bidder on both batteries.....he got the second one....was also early bidder in the for parts twin. My instinct is this is decent batt......but we will know V soon!

Re: Battery Refiling?

OK working but one more thing indigenous to this particular Batt: as we now get....it does have the charger thingy. Many friends have lappys....not once did I ever look on thier tummys por thik about their batteries.. So that she charges, the one n the way.....is a good sign, I think. Can't know that with just any batt.

Again, U press on mine.....stand on it even (joke).....it does nuthing. Cause it is totally dead.

Yes! Glory B!

Hello.

Batt arrived just earlier....just as all my instincts told me....it is fabulous; looks as if it were just born; batt indicator worked, I first used A/C with it 2 check in in powser management....it was 86% charged, I let it charge little more, but was tioo excited to let it charge totally....and right this second, found puppy is working on batt for the first time since I found it!

Glory and related stuff!!!!!! Jilly luvs eBay....but you gotta B discerning....and it takes work and time and is individual item and vendor-specific.

Carcass also arrived....have yet to tear it apart.

Jilly happy cause puppy gettin happier & healthier every day
