(resolved)Choppy video and sloooow startup
Hello,
HP 5125US laptop. Was running fine for six months. No tweaks or abuse and no surfing in the wilder parts of the web. Yesterday I was on google video and the video and sound got really choppy. CPU and memory usage were normal. The mouse pointer moves in jumps around the screen. I did a reboot and it took forever to start up. Everything seems to be in slow motion. Video and audio playback are really choppy with stuttering and looping. When ever I start a program it takes a long time to load and the disk activity light is on solid the whole time. Could this simply be a hard drive problem or could I be looking at something more serious? I doubt it is os related since the machine had been up and runnig fine for hours before this started. Any advice appreciated! |

Re: (resolved)Choppy video and sloooow startup
Glad its fixed. Did you check that the IDE channel that the CD drive is on (likely the secondary IDE channel) is also set to DMA (DMA 2 for optical drives)?
