ibm thinkpad laptop 600 no power
hi there new to this so bear with me i have a laptop ibm 600 my batteries never been much good very little life so i now tend to use the power lead ,only i went to switch it on and now theres no power at all not even with the power lead do these things burn out? would a new lead solve this issue? can any one help thanks.

Hi Bob,
If nothing at all happens when you try to turn on the laptop, it could be a bad motherboard, but it could also be that the solder bridge between the AC jack and the motherboard was broken. If it is the solder bridge that was broken, it can be repaired easily and for relatively little money. A local computer shop that services laptops will do this for you, but you can also do it if you are good at soldering and are comfortable with opening up the laptop. If it is the motherboard, you are likely looking at a new laptop. It is almost always cheaper to get a new laptop and to copy data off the hard drive than to replace the motherboard unless it is a new/high end laptop.
