IBM Laptop T42 waterspill....help!

I spilled a v small amount of distilled water on my ThinkPad T42 LCD screen.....the water got inside the screen at the left top corner, i did not turn the computer off immediately as i thought distilled water wont have short circuit effect without ions....

then i tried to move my laptop to one side, hoping the water to come out, it didnt, so i let it dry for two days

For the first day, immediately after the accident, the laptop montor turned white sometimes, and when i moved my mouse, there is a vertical coloured line following the direction of my mouse, then i tried to connect my laptop to another monitor, everything worked fine, i can check email, etc....

After letting it dry for 24 hrs, i turned it on again, the situation got worse, the screen is white now.....however, when i tilt the screen to 180 degree, it runs perfect, although there s still some water left at the lefttop corner
and then i tried to connect my laptop to another monitor, it works well at first.....ibm logo, and then i got choices....run window normally, safe mode, safe mode with network, most recent setting that works....something like that, i clicked run window normally, then windows xp started, after that there s a blue page....error message, and then the system reboots

After waiting for another 24 hrs, i turned it on again, the screen is now having a black background with vertical coloured line not moving, the water at the lefttop corner was almost gone, and then the same error meesage page appears when i connect it to another monitor

Can anyone tell me what happened?

don't start a new thread each time you post reply to the original one
i have merged your 2 threads to gether
check you have not left a disk in a drive
which screen is the latest one,if it's the one with the error message, then d/load and run the h/d manufacturers diognostic on the h/d

Re: IBM Laptop T42 waterspill....help!

thanx for ur quick repsonse..do i need to replace the whole laptop screen? it s only a small aamount of distilled water, why distilled water will have shortcircuit effect? or there r other ways of fixing it, is it possible there s moisture at the connecting part? i only spilled water on the screen, why does it affect the h/d?
