Two Vista questions
I just installed Vista Home Basic on my HP Pavilion laptop. I have two questions...
It's an entertainment laptop, so there are various controls above the keyboard like play, stop, and a volume control. On the volume control, there's a little red light that turns on when the volume is muted - and the light won't turn off, even when there's sound. I've been playing with the audio settings and I can't figure out how to turn it off. And how do you change it so file extensions can be viewed? thanks |

Re: Two Vista questions
Have you tried looking for a volume control device under System Devices and then uninstalling that device and letting Windows reinstall it?
As for the file extensions, do this: Start > (Settings) > Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab > Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.

Re: Two Vista questions
The laptop is an HP Pavilion dv2050us.
In Device Manager under Sound controllers, there's something called High Definition Audio Device that's not working properly. It says the most current driver is already installed and I've tried disabling and re-enabling it to no avail. I could do the uninstall option, but how would I re-install it? |

Re: Two Vista questions
Yes, uninstall it and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver most of the time after the reboot.

Re: Two Vista questions
Go here http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/...isplay=drivers and enter your model #. Choose vista and you will see a driver called hp quick launch buttons. There is also one for the high def audio.
