Dell Latitude 610 want turn on

I have a Dell Latitude 610 laptop that will not power up with a battery or AC power. Looking for some idea of what the problem might be. When I plug the AC cord into the laptop, the little green light on the AC adapter turns off as if there is a short in the plug in. If anyone has any words of wisdom, I would surely appreciate them.

Hi,

You might want to try removing one RAM stick, and then the other and trying to boot with each stick indivdually.

What happens when you try and power on? Do you get any beeps? Does the fan spin?

BTW, I have moved you to Laptops.

There are no sounds at all. It want even power up. Could it be the motherboard?

Re: Dell Latitude 610 want turn on

If you get nothing from either battery or AC power, it most likely is the motherboard. Hopefully, it's still under warranty. Otherwise, most laptop boards from Dell are US $300-350.

Do you know if the battery is charged? If it isn't, it could also be the connection between the AC jack and the motherboard. A local computer shop will resolder this for you for not too much money.
