Hot Gateway 7320
This is my first post. Please help. My gateway 7320 power adapter port, on the rear of my notebook, gets scorching hot after just a few seconds. The computer locks up after a few minutes. If I try to run the computer on battery power, I only get a few seconds before the batteries are drained. The computer operates properly until it locks up. It's like something is causing it to draw way too much current. I've removed the DVD drive, the battery, and the LCD display. The adapter port still gets smokin' hot a few seconds after startup. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Hot Gateway 7320
Hey,
I had a similar problem and so did my brother. We opened the wires on my brother's ac adaptor and noticed that the wires were melted from too much heat. When I contacted gateway for my laptop, they sent me a new ac adaptor and that helped. You just have to remember to use a laptop cooling fan so the laptop does not get hot enough to melt the power cord. At least that is what I think the problem is IMHO. |
