Screen skittery but tweeking helps
The screen on my son's HP6130 is pretty much useless. At startup all it shows is a distorted windows logo that doesn't move or advance. By distorted I mean part of it is on the upper pportion of the screen and other parts are at the bottom. There are horizontal lines through all of it. Did I mention it is frozen?
But if I lightly rock it back and forth - even only slightly - it clears up, refreshes and looks fine ---for a second. As soon as I let go or even move even a fraction off of the "sweet" spot it reverts to a distorted partial image. It is not the vid card - at least I don't think so - because it works fine when connected to an external monitor. I'm thinking its the cable between the MB and the screen. Could it be this? How difficult is it to get to (I have opening instruction from another thread concerning adding memory to it) both the ends of the cable? If not the cable - is there anything else it could be? A bad LCD screen? Drivers? Thanks yustr

Re: Screen skittery but tweeking helps
Thanks for your help - but alas I could only access one end of the cable - the one behind the keyboard. But that was not loose and did not fix it. So after he comes home from college for the summer - off it goes to get a new screen. I guess the extra warranty was worth it after all.
