HP Compaq nc8000 and PC-3200 (400Mhz) DDR Memory

Hi,

I would like to add a 512MB memory module on top of the factory 512MB stick (PC-2700 333Mhz).
From the manual I understand that only 266-333Mhz are supported.
Could I still add a 400mhz module assuming that the machine would run it at a slower clock?
Will the 2 differing modules co-exist?

Hi netRAT,

That laptop does take DDR333 PC2700 RAM, so DDR400 PC3200 RAM will run at DDR333 speeds if it is installed. There shouldn't be any issues, but you won't get dual channel mode. If you want dual channel, you will have to install identical sticks.
