Hi:
You can access your HDD using Bart's PE (Pre-installed Environment) Disk. If you are confident enough in burning CDs, You can create this disk as mentioned in the link: http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ You can create this disk from W-XP SP2 or higher (W2K3 CD) version of windows. PE disk gives you a facility to boot into a windows like environment and you can have read/write access to NTFS drives. You can also execute programs there. Hope it works. |

Another option would be to use a live distro of Linux like Mepis or Knoppix. I have used Mepis in the past to recover files on my hard drive and transfer them to an external drive.
Essentially you load and run the linux OS from your hard drive. The OS runs temporarly in your systems RAM. The nice thing about a Linux OS on CD Rom is that you can use your computer while you are trying to repair it. I was able to ask questions on this site using my WiFi and the built in browser. It was pretty handy. Good Luck JRo |

Use a Notebook drive adapter to install it in a desktop temporarily. Then copy the drive contents to that computer's drive. You could also get two of the adapters and do a direct drive to drive copy after installing windows
