bad laptop

The laptop is like 10 years old and the only reason i still have it is the battery still lasts about 4 hours
the problem is that when i bring it somwere and it is bumbed hard the display is screwed it shakes and eventualy goes white this is fixed by bashing it against my knees...i am looking for a more perminant salution.
the other problem is it turns of randomly (only once or twice)

ps i dont want a new laptop if i cant fix it oh well

it is a gateway solo 2500 64 mb ram and a 366mhz pII win xp =[}
