new computer usb/serial help

i just got a new laptop [gateway mp8708]this thing has everything 17'' screen daul core processor daul layer cd/dvd,, but no 3.5'' floppy or serial ports,ive got the floppy probulm solved[bought a ext usb floppy drive and it works] , but i bought a usb to serial cable so i can run my diagnostic automotive program i need to earn a living,the program works great on my old laptop ,but not on the new one,ive reinstalled the driver software 3 times and got a different cable but nogo

Check with the company to see if there is a usb cable you can get to replace the serial one.
