Mistake Urgent power up problem with acer travelmate2312lm_

hi all,

my missus's laptop, after being left alone for a few days on it's own, off, unplugged from power supply, now refuses to start up. no bios boot, no post start, not even a battery light. the battery is fine and fully connected, even the power converter light is on but the laptop refuses to breathe.

please help as soon as possible.

thanks!!

Ryan D Jackson

Hi Ryan,

Does the laptop show any signs of turning on like any fans spinning? If so, do these fans turn off soon after? Also, have you tried it with AC power but the battery out, on AC power with the battery in, and on battery power with no AC?

absolute zero dude. no fans, no signs of life, even with battery out. the cable (inc. powerpack) SEEMS to be fine, what with the light on the powerpack being on, but the laptop itself isn't budging an inch.

any ideas?

I think the battery is drained, and the solder connection from the AC jack to the motherboard is broken. If you happen to have another battery that would fit this laptop and is charged, try that. Otherwise, your two options are to use the warranty and get the laptop repaired or send it to a shop, or if you are feeling confident, to resolder the connection yourself.

we'll try the cable, but apparently this has happened before, then after a length of time the battery sprang back into life. we're stumped, it's a bit of a waiting game, cos the warranty has expired too, so we'll try the cable but if you think of anything else please let us know asap

thanks again
