Keyboard keys causing system beep?

I have a new installation of XP Pro and for some reason, every time a key is pushed, I get a system beep. It's really quite annoying.
I've checked under all the obvious sources (Ctrl Pnl / keyboard / system sounds)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Did you install XP from a retail disk, or the recovery CDs that came with the laptop? If it was from a retail XP copy, then you should do it with the recovery CDs so that all your drivers are installed.

What drivers have you installed? I think you may need to install some drivers like the sound drivers. IMO the recovery CD would be the easiest option since that will install all the necessary drivers for you, but if you have already installed a lot of programs, then it might not be the best option since you would have to reinstall all the programs again. What model laptop is it?

drivers

I do actually have it all set up with the apps and wireless and everything.
It's an Inspiron 8200. 1.8Ghz P4, 256RAM, all that.

Try one of these drivers:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...7&fileid=58873
http://support.dell.com/support/down...7&fileid=58873

And then this driver:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...3&fileid=57707

Does it do this even if you mute the master volume?

keyboard beep

I tried the drivers, (the two on top look the same?) No luck. The beeping actually isn't audible if I turn the volume down or mute it.
I appreciate your help.

See if the solution on this page fixes it.

If that doesn't work, make sure FilterKeys in Accessibility options of the control panel is disabled.
