Flickering screen

For over two weeks now my laptop has been blinking. When it does that it does not shut off as everything is as it was before the so called blink. Sometimes these blinks are single ones and other times they are multiple. Also two times the blinks were not complete as the screen dimmed for a few ticks before coming back up.
I have already took it to a service place and they found nothing. The only theory they have is the backlight may be dying. Please help me solve this problem. thanks
