Broken LCD on Inspiron B130 laptop -- will p/n W0763 work?
I booted up my Inspiron B130 this morning, only to be shocked to find what looks like a hairline crack starting at the top of the screen and reaching about 1/3 of the way down. There is an inverted black triangle around the top of the crack. This damage wasn't there last night when I shut down, and I have no children or pets....
Anyhow, I'm thinking that I need to replace the LCD or sell the laptop. I see a good price on a 15.4" WXGA LCD with part number W0763. Apparently this is a replacement for the Inspiron 8500, 8600, and Latitude D800. Will it work for my Inspiron B130 (which also has a 15.4" LCD)? I can't find any cross-reference between these two online. Thanks! |

Is your Inspiron out of warranty? If it is, it's probably not worth replacing the LCD screen, unless you can get a real sweet deal on one, because they are a bit expensive. New ones are easily over $200.

Ah, interesting. I'm wondering, though, if it does indeed physically fit, would the cable/connections be standard for Dell? I've never done repair/replacement work on a laptop before, but I'd be willing to do the standard LCD replacement -- I'm just not sure if it will be a convoluted process with this specific piece. |
