A Disk Read Error Occured...
Hi - new member, Joey Atlas here...
My Dell Laptop started acting up in the last 3 days - & today I tried to boot up & all I get is the following: A Disk Read Error Occured Press Cntl + Alt + Del to Restart I try to restart - but keep getting the same message. I am not very tech oriented - but can find my way around with guidance. Any help will be tremendously appreciated. Thanks, Joey Atlas |

yes. insert the cd in the drive and reboot. when rebooting, enter bios (most likely by pressing the F2 key) and make sure the cd rom drive is the first boot device
you might be able to boot into safe mode (press the F8 key immediately after turning on or restarting) and then scheduling chkdsk to run on reboot. start>run> type in chkdsk /r when asked if you want to run it on next boot, the answer is yes |

Choose diagnostics, then I believe you can choose to check the hard disk. I think your hard drive is bad, but we need to run a diagnostic to find out for sure. If that's not the right one, then go back and choose HDD.
