Laptop processors

I am currently looking into buying a new laptop. What I was wondering was, what is the differnce between the various processors. The two that I am seeing everwhere are the AMD Turion 64 Mobile and the Intel Core Duo.
I would like to get a good laptop, and not spend money on something only to find that it's no good. However, I don't know much about the differences between the various options taht I am seeing. I would like to be able to play games on it, and what is the difference between the AMD Turion and the AMD Athlon?

What is your budget? Will you be multitasking? For games, the Core Duo and the Core 2 Duo aren't that great (the Core 2 Duo Mobile doesn't use the Conroe core), AMD is still the better choice in mobile gaming.
