Display problem

Hi,
I just bought a used T21 Thinkpad and there is a problem with the screen. When you move the lid, there is a pink band that apears on the left side of the screen and sometimes, the screen goes all white!! I also noticed that putting pressure on the pointing device causes the screen to flash pink. Pressure on the keyboard in certain spots will also cause the problem. Any idea whay I am looking at to repair and is this a common problem with this model? Thanks.

don't worry, you don't need to spend a lot of money to fix this, just dismantle and look for a ribbon cable (going around the hinge) and remove it from its connector and reinsert into connector, i think you can just dismantle the hinge area
