I have an HP dv5000 laptop with the ati xpress 200m
2.2g cpu 2 gigs ram win xp home can i upgrade my graphics card? I've heard from one guy who used to work for hp that they are upgradable but that hp doesnt want u to know it. Can anyone comment? |

That has an IGP (integrated graphics processor). If a laptop has an IGP, it cannot be upgraded, but you can give it some more video memory by using some of the system RAM. You have 2 GB, so you can easily set to the highest. From memory, I believe the 200m can use as much as 256 MB, but I know it can use 128 MB. Adjust this in the BIOS by pressing Esc when it is showing the HP logo and then looking around for video memory. If thats not it, try F1 or F2.
