Trouble with Dell e1705 Inspiron

Strange problem with sound and video from relatively new Dell Inspiron E1705. Sound and Video are choppy when using Windows Media Center and PowerDVD for playing DVD's and Media Center and iTunes (when playing a CD) but plays fine in MusicMatch. Is this a faulty driver or settings issue (software) or a hardware problem that doesn't affect MusicMatch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also, this unit has had sporadic problems with booting up properly...begins booting and then just shuts off. Then other times it will boot up completely and work for a while...don't know if this is an Op system problem (and maybe related to the sound/video issue or something completely different.
