Laptop Keyboard
While typing, cursor jumps to another field either in same line or above. It was suggested that I am inadvertently resting my wrist on mouse or space bar but I've tested that and it is not the case. Very frustrating when typing a lot of text to keep repositioning the cursor.

Hi, and welcome to TSF!
I think I understand. A lot of times when I type, I bump the touchpad, and It moves the cursor to where ever the mouse is. This is very annoying. There are 3 things you can do: 1. Configgure the touchpad to disable tap to click when typing (doesn't always work, if it doesn't try the next thing). 2. Disable tap to click all together (you will still be able to use the touchpad, just use the buttons for clicking). 3. If all else fails, disable the touchpad (usually done with a Fn + F# key combination). PS: I have moved you to the laptops forum so you can get better help there.

Laptop Keyboard
Since I usually use and external mouse, I tried #3 and disabled the touchpad.
It worked! Now I just have to remember to enable the touchpad when using the laptop away from my desk. Thank you so much. |

Hi,
For if you are ever working away from the desk, and have this probably, try: If there is a 'pointing device' icon on the icon tray thing, right click it, and click on 'pointing device proberties. If there is no icon, click on Start > Control pannel > Printers and other hardware > mouse. Now, ethier way you get to this, you should be at the same point, click on the 'device settings' tab, there should be a touchpad thing there, make sure it is highlighted, and click on the settings button. If you have a Synaptics touchpad, expand the 'Sensitivity', click on palm check, and adjust that to how you want, I have it 2 up, and then click on Touch sensitivity, and adjust that. I have that right up to full. If you don't have a Synaptics touch pad, then you will have to find them yourself. Hope this helps. |
