My girlfriend dropped a little rootbeer in her labtop and now like 10 mins later it keeps pressing keys. What can be done about the prolbem? Could the rootbeer have done it or could it have been some malicious software that just happened to activate?

G'Day Red XIII,
More than likely it would be the rootbeer. You will have to get a hair dryer and on the coolest setting blow the keyboard to dry out the rootbeer. However, the fact that rootbeer contains sugar, you might be better off taking it to the manufacturer to get them to thoroughly clean it, that's if you don't think that you could take it apart to do the job yourself. The stickiness of the sugar residue will play havoc with the keyboard.

Thanks for the info dude. I think the rootbeer may be dry by now. Currently the prolbem still exists. she is currently giving up til tomorrow. I think she should get it repaired but it is like getting older.

If it was performing properly prior to the mishap, and is still in good order, I'd be getting it repaired, as it will more than likely be cheaper than replacing it, plus much less hassle with transferring files etc.

You can often take it to the shop and they will replace the keyboard, which will be relitively inexpensive. If you can find the correct keyboard, you could even do it yourself if you are feeling adventurous.
