Laptop Freezes And Black Screen
Hi,
I wonder whether you might be able to help please. I have been given a laptop which has a variety of programs on it. However, when I boot up the computer, after two minutes it freezes and a black screen appears. The laptop doesn't power down but simply goes black and does not respond to input. Please could you advise? Many thanks, Paul |

Ive had similiar problems with my Stinkpad t20. Check the physical RAM slots for damage or a lose connection. For some reason, the video stops if the memory is not in place correctly and with no memory, you can't give input.

Your 'Stinkpad' T20 has a known flaw. It could also be cooling. See if you can download SpeedFan and report back the temps here.

no, its not a heat issue. It has happened before the computer was turned on for the day. Yes, they do run a bit hot and cooling isnt all that efficient but that won't kill the vid without killing the CPU first.

Then you have a specific issue. I was leased about 35 T20s that exhibited a cooling problem after a given amount of time. None of them showed your RAM problem. The T21 solved this issue.
