HP Pavilion N5412

I have been given this L/Top by my grand-daughter to play with as it aint working. At switch-on the fans run, the H/D churns once or twice, then nothing, no display nor POST. Never having worked on a L/Top before, I Need some help please to open up this machine to see if anything obvious has come "unstuck". I wasn't given a handbook or any other material so I'm a little hesitant in prising the plastic casing apart without knowing which bit to hammer !
Any other useful hints and tips would be gratefully received. I have some experience with desktops having built a few for myself and family so I'm not quite a raw learner.
I cant seem to locate an online handbook either, any ideas ?

This is my first posting on this site so please excuse any obvious errors. Thanks in anticipation, A.

1st try powering it on without the battery.

Yes, tried with and without battery, no change. The powerpack is OK, checked volts etc. from my limited experience of L/Tops I would suspect a faulty M/B or something loose inside the case preventing boot-up, but unless I can get inside the case I cant go any further !
Does any member know where I can find out how to open the case ???
