what laptop should I buy?
Hi all,
I'm in search of a laptop with two necessary characteristics: 2Gb DDR and a 256 mb graphics card. For the rest I am very flexible. I would like to spend max 1700 euros. Can anybody give me some suggestions, some models to help me?? thanks a lot |

I don't think you'll get what you're looking for for that price. But...
I went to www.alienware.com and used an Aurora laptop for the base. It came out to $1,900USD+ with what you asked for. Now then, I'd never buy that laptop simply because I can't stand Alienware. It also sounds like you're looking to get a gaming laptop but the truth is; laptops aren't for gaming.

Yes, AVIOD ALIENWARE AT ALL COSTS!
You can get laptops which play fairly good games you know, my laptop plays them well, so what this person is wanting, it should play games pretty well... Now, you can get a good laptop for $1,349.99, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115224 but only has 128MB of ram. Or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115239 Is there any reason in particular you need 256mb graphics card?

Hey,
thanks to all, and to reply to JOe, I need the 256 mb card basically for games. However I found what I was looking for: and think it's a pretty good price for it: http://www.computerdiscount.it/commo....asp?cod=52.AR. |

If you are looking into a gaming laptop, I would lean toward an AMD, only because the core duo's aren't the best gamers. You could get this and upgrade the RAM. It would be in your budget.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115218 2 x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145518 Or, you could spend the extra money and get 2 GB of RAM standard and get a faster CPU as well. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115221 There is an open box version to save more money. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16834115221R The Mobility Radeon X700, with 128 MB of video memory, should be fine.

Agreed, Alienware is evil...
The laptops that TheMatt selected are excellent. Re:Core Duo. They're horrible for gaming. I've tried. For everything else, they scream, but for gaming you want a single core processor. AMD gets the most value.
