Dell C840 blank screen, almost !

Hi all, well i use my lt quite a bit, and this morning the screen went blank, you can see the images very faint but i believe the backlite (?) that lights up the screen may be gone. I can connect a monitor to the video port in the rear and that works great. Anyone with experience with this model , and if so is this just a back light replacement or a complete lcd screen ? Thanks for your input and advice on this matter.

It will either be the backlight or inverter. Here is more info on how to get to it.

Terrister is correct. The backlight or inverter is the problem. The link provided should work.
