Is it an external modem? I think I would use some better programs to scan ur computer..
AVGfree Adaware Spybot Asquared Windows Defender First off. Secondly did u try reinstalling your drivers? I wouldn't use zone alarm, that causes more headaches then help, but thats just an opinion of mine. As for kapersky and spyware doctor, uninstall those. Check ur connection settings AFTER reinstalling your drivers. In fact I would even create new settings and delete the old ones. Last thing to do is a repair install (well format is the VERY last thing but not recommended). If you do end up doing a repair install and it doesn't work then I think it's hardware related.. seems strange though.. i'll keep my mind open to see if i can think of anything else, as I do believe there is some sort of solution prior to giving up and doing a repair install/format |

since you formatted, have you installed anitvirus software and is it working?
can you use a cat5 cable and connect to your modem instead of using the wireless NIC?

Since you did reformat, this could be a hardware issue. Try using a separate NIC if possible. PCMCIA NICs are fairly easy to find (and cheap).
