"Windows is starting up" Problem

Hello,

I have a Toshiba L25 S1217 Laptop running Windows XP Home Edition, and it was running perfectly fine this morning. However, this morning when I turned on the laptop, it began to startup normaly but then froze at the "Windows is starting up" blue screen. No other message is displayed. I have tried to use Safe Mode, but the same problem occurs. I can't get past the "Windows is starting up" screen no matter what I try.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks for replying, I'm still confused however.

How do I run chkdsk /r I can't get past the "Windows is starting up" screen. It's still been hanging there for the past four hours. I should probably add that I am able to move the pointer, indicating that the screen is not frozen.

Thanks!

You blew out all of your data? You probably could have done a repair. But, it was solved, nevertheless...
