2 Questions
I kicked/tripped over the wire on my current one a few weeks back and the little pin in the socket is stuck in the charger wire. If that makes sense. So i have to get a new charger and someone to open up the laptop and fit a new power socket in. Will this be really expensive?
That along with it only having 40gb and a few other problems im probably going to buy a new one. The one i have now is a Pentium4 2.8ghz, 704mb RAM. I use it for video editing and 3d animation so it has to be a good one. Was just wondering if a 1.8ghz celeron or something thats not a pentium and a gig+ RAM, would i see a massive difference is speed compared to the one i have now? |

Sorry i cant Really help with ur 1st problem.
2nd. Intel celerons are slower than Intel P4s. The P4 2.8 is rather Quick. Not sure if you would see a huge difference in the RAM ( 704mb to 1gb ) though. But Deffo dont get a Celeron ( thats what i have in my Desktop ) |

As for the first question:
The operation on the laptop might be expensive. Power connectors on laptops are either integrated onto the mainboard or around it. It will require removing and soldering of parts. You can also easily replace the mainboard or applicable part. I recommend www.impactcomputers.com. As for the second question: For video editing, I suggest using another Pentium 4 (P4) or Mobile Pentium 4 (P4m). The Intel Celeron series of processor are designed for low voltage operations. They perform well, but programs such as those that you are using require 'raw processing power' which is simply available in processors with a higher clock speed. If you cannot find a P4 or P4m, AMD's Athlon 64 are formidable processors. For some reason, an AMD64 at 1.8 GHz will perform as well as a P4 at 2.4GHz. However, I suggest sticking with the P4 architecture. |

www.newegg.com
www.tigerdirect.com www.zipzoomfly.com I use AMD exclusively on my production machines and am nothing short of extremely pleased with the performance. I paid less and got more.
