power managment issues on laptop

Hi-- Ihave a Dell with XP laptop and it keeps going to standby on me after I had it on standby (closed the cover)- I would reopen it and voila! it goes to standby again. I have tried all sorts of power schemes but this is a new thing- otherwise never messed with the settings. Computer is 6 mos old but this has been happening 2 weeks, maybe.

Very frustrating!!!

If you simpy cant solve it with basic fixes, then disable standby on lid close. In Control Panel, open Power Options and click the Advanced tab. Change the lid close option to Hibernate and try that. If you do not have hibernation enabled, theres an option for that in the Hibernate tab of the same window. If all goes to worse, set it to do nothing on lid close.
