Dead IBM Thinkpad A31 2652-M3U - does not boot, no beeping, no activity at all. One day it works and the next day it doesn't. It was running XP and working fine. No indication of a problem. Does not indicate battery power. Can anybody offer help except buy a new one?

Before i had actually found out what my mother did to mine *dropped H2O on it* i was given the run down of basic advice by the fujitsu techs, i suppose it would be standard ie. to check your battery and see if it's faulty: try removing battery and then switching your laptop on via the ac adaptor. If someone had dropped something liquid on your laptop, you might not see the external evidence (I didn't) but give it a few days and if static noises eminate from the speakers, then liquid has somehow gotten into your machine...well that's my 2 cents on this.

Thats my best guess. A31s are relatively new as far as specs are concerned. The A series has a good history of robust, sturdy machines. I seriously think someone watered that mahine, or it just auto-fried?! The ACPI controller may be shot too, since that is what controls the battery indicator.
