Unable to access HDD through an Enclosure

Hi there,

I have an old HDD that I am trying to access. It's a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 120GB ATA/133 HDD:

http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Ma...Max%20Plus%209

I recently purchased an enclosure:

http://icybox.de/de/pages/products/e..._objectID=3184
(it's in German I'm afraid)

I followed the instructions on the leaflet for the enclosure, set the jumper to master and plugged it in via the USB port.

The OS (XP) was able to 'see' the drive but it would not assign a letter to the drive i.e. I was able to see the drive in the disk management but I could not access its contents.

Can anyone suggest a reason why this is? Thanks.

Hi,

Does this drive have data on it that you are trying to save or are you trying to format it? Please provide more clarity about the status of the drive.
