External HD data lost
Hi,
I have 3 internal HD's and one 250gb external HD. I recently had a corrupted C drive problem and ultimately had to delete a partition from one of my HD's and install windows xp on to it and then transfer my important files from my C drive onto that drive. In the process of doing this, there was an error telling me that there was some kind of device that was not properly installed. I assumed it was my external HD because i had been swapping it back and forth between my PC and my laptop. So I simply turned off my external HD and then continued the windows xp setup. I was able to get my files from the C drive but I just noticed that when I plugged in my external it basically had NO data in it. I then tried checking it on my laptop and it said the same thing. The entire hard drive was empty. Now I had over a hundred gigs of data that I had accumulated over a period of 3 years. So this is very upsetting to me. Is there a solution for my problem without having to go to a technician or spending $100 on a file recovery tool if I can avoid it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
